A new spin-off of Tohru Fujisawa's manga series Great Teacher Onizuka (abbreviated as GTO) titled GT-R, has started serialization in this year's 30th issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine on June 27. 

GT-R stands for Great Transporter Ryuji. The series will focus on Ryuji living his life as a motorcycle store manager, who one day meets Ishikawa Mimon, a mysterious high school girl with an even more mysterious interest in Ryuji. 

A new live-action remake of the 1998 TV drama based on manga GTO with a new cast was confirmed earlier this year. The new adaptation will premiere in July.
