11.13.2015 17:23

It is reported from Deadline Hollywood that Margaret Qualley, an actress and daughter of actress Andie MacDowell, is in negotiations to play the female lead in Warner Brother's planned Death Note movie. Her character’s name has not yet been revealed.

Nat Wolff is another player who plays the lead male character of the movie. His character's name has also not yet been revealed, but he will play a student who finds the Death Note.

The movie will be slated for spring 2016.

Adam Wingard will direct the movie, with scripts by Jeremy Slater.

Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs, and Masi Oka are producers. Doug Davison and Brian Witten are executive producers, and Niija Kuykendall and Nik Mavinkurve are overseeing the project for Warner.

In the original Death Note manga, the story follows Light Yagami, who finds a notebook with which he can kill anyone by writing their names and dictating manners of death. The manga inspired three live-action movies in Japan with a fourth slated for 2016, a television anime with specials, and a stage musical by Broadway veterans.
