Fruits Basket Manga’s another Sequel to Launch in September

Natsuki Takaya, the creator of Fruits Basket manga, will launch Fruits Basket another sequel manga on the free “Hanalala online” website on September 4. Hakusensha will publish new chapters every Friday on the site. As a new sequel of Fruits Basket manga, the story will take place at Tohru’s high school after she graduates, and will focus on Sawa, a girl who has just entered the high school.

Hakusensha is also streaming a commercial for the new series.

The first two volumes of the collector’s edition of the original manga will be published on September 4, and other new volumes will released monthly. The new edition will have 12 total volumes, contains new cover images drawing by Takaya, and includes color cover pages from the manga’s original magazine serialization. The creator mentioned that the sequel series is in order to commemorate the release of the collector’s edition.

Fruits Basket manga first serialized in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine from 1998 to 2006, and has more than 18.5 million copies in print. It has inspired a 26-episode anime series, directed by Akitaro Daichi and Studio DEEN.
