According to the 11th issue of Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine, after seven-and-a-half years, the famous supernatural action manga series Black God (Kurokami) is coming to an end in the 13th issue of the magazine on June 18. And Square Enix will publish the 19th and final compiled book volume on August 25.

Black God is written by Dall-Young Lim and illustrated by Sung-Woo Park. It revolves around a game programmer named Keita who gets caught in a battle being fought by Kuro. Kuro is a Tera Guardian – a Mototsumitama or a guardian who maintains the Coexistence Equilibrium. Kuro saves Keita’s life during the battle and regenerates Keita’s arm that Keita loses in the fight. This exchange creates a bond that unites the two in the battles ahead.

Black God has been running in Young Gangan magazine since 2004. 16 volumes are already released with a 17th volume scheduled for an October 2012 release. The manga also inspired a 24 episode anime series (Kurokami: The Animation) in 2009. The anime was the first anime to premiere on television in three countries (Japan, South Korea, the United States) within 24 hours of each other.
